GHOST SIGNS
recently, i discovered a new magazine while trawling the shelves of WHsmith in london. it's called SIMPLE THINGS and explores "the things that matter most" and embraces a simpler life: something i'm desperate for.
i love the idea of living off the grid so to speak - of growing my own veggies, raising chickens, generating our own electricity and riding a bike to run my errands. i idolize those people who are able to bring their kids up in an unspoiled environment - where children play all day outside while moms are inside baking bread and making chutney. this is my idea of a good life.
i don't really subscribe to the rat race - working a 9 to 5 while you miss out on life. sure, a steady job helps create a sense of security and allows you a little freedom to buy what you want, but is it OUR dream to do this every day for the next 40 years or so until we retire?
perhaps for some - but definitely not for us. so for the next while we'll continue to dream and come up with ideas for how we want to spend the rest of our days, which is just as fun as actually making it all happen.
anyway - i digress. the above are pics from GHOST SIGNS - and initiative started in the uk to document all the billboard and advertising signs of yesteryear before they were all painted over or demolished. sad to see a lot of these signs giving way to new signs and building renovations.
