we got hitched at the litchi orchard in salt rock at 12pm on 14th july 2012. the ceremony was officiated by bevan's dad, and took place in their outside chapel. that was followed be a photo session with the family in the orchard behind the chapel. a scrumptious true south african braai then followed that, then the speeches and some yummy cake.
our photographers, kathy and roy, really knocked it out of the park: their pictures are SIMPLY STUNNING. we later got fridge magnets made by stickygram which we've since given to our close family members.
my mom and i chose the flowers (a mix of random garden flowers and proteas) a week before the wedding, picked them up the day before and spent the evening prior putting them in vases and setting them out. my bouquet was done about an hour before i walked down the aisle.
my dress, i picked up at a shop on the high street in london in march - cost me a whopping R180. my shoes? zara for R800. funny how the shoes cost 5 x more than the dress itself...
the real fun came when we all piled in the photobooth and ate ice cream all afternoon out of the back of a converted vw caravelle. it was, quite simply, a perfect way to spend an afternoon.
the real star of the show though was our coordinator: she helped set up with us the night before and was there on the day to make sure everything was ready to go. Debbie really was a godsend.
the next morning we had breakfast with the family, and then caught our flight out to paris. a 2 week honeymoon in europe during the summer simply cannot be beaten.
i must admit however, that after 7 months of planning and pouring over guest lists and to do lists as long as my arm, i'm happy the wedding went off perfectly but really, that's it's done. now we can get our weekends and lives back!
next up: some pics from our honeymoon.
I really love your wedding Pippa and so in love with the fact that you had a braai and ice cream truck. My two HAVE TO's for my one day wedding are a spit braai and soft serve ice cream. I can only hope that my wedding will be as family oriented and lovely as yours.
